What is a fitted hat?

A fitted cap has no adjustment at all. It is made in a specific size and sits the same way every time, with a clean unbroken back panel where an adjustable cap has a strap or a snap. People who know their hat size generally do not go back to adjustable.

Why fitted over adjustable

  • No strap or snap — a clean unbroken back panel.
  • Consistent fit — sits identically every time it goes on.
  • No pressure point — nothing digging into the back of the head.
  • Cleaner silhouette — the crown reads smoother from behind.
  • Stays put — less likely to shift in wind or during activity.

Sizing and construction

Sizing is the whole decision. Measure around the head just above the ears and across the middle of the forehead, and match that to the size chart. A fitted cap that is a half size too small cannot be fixed.

  • Sizes — 7, 7 1/4, 7 3/8, 7 1/2, 7 5/8, and 7 3/4.
  • Measure above the ears — 21.5in is a 6 7/8, 23in is a 7 3/8.
  • Structured six-panel crown — holds shape.
  • Flat or curved brim — both offered.
  • Wool blend or cotton twill — wool holds a sharper crown.

Care and stretching

Hand wash and air dry on a form. A wool blend fitted cap relaxes about a quarter size with wear. If you are between sizes, size up rather than down, since a tight fitted cap will never become comfortable. 10% of every purchase is donated to a Christian ministry, mission, charity or non-profit. Fitted hat questions, answered

How do I measure my hat size?

Wrap a tape around your head just above the ears and across the middle of the forehead. 21.5 inches is roughly a 6 7/8, 23 inches a 7 3/8.

What if I am between sizes?

Size up. A wool blend relaxes about a quarter size with wear, and a cap that is too tight never becomes comfortable.

Can a fitted hat be stretched?

A wool blend gives slightly with wear or with a hat stretcher. Cotton twill gives very little.

Fitted or adjustable?

Fitted if you know your size and want a clean back panel with no pressure point. Adjustable if the hat gets shared or you are unsure.

Can I wash a fitted cap?

Hand wash cool and air dry on a form or a bowl. Machine washing warps the structured crown.

Flat or curved brim on a fitted?

Both are offered. Flat is the more common choice on a structured fitted crown.
