Insulated performance depends on the vacuum between the walls, not on the thickness of the steel. These are 18/8 stainless with a true vacuum gap, which is what produces the six-hour hot rating.
Hand wash the body, and take the lid apart to clean the gasket, which is where every travel mug eventually starts to smell. About six hours. Preheating the mug with hot water for a minute before filling adds noticeably to that.
The base is under 2.9 inches, which fits the large majority of cup holders. Check the 20oz against a narrow console.
Hand wash the body to protect the powder coat and the engraved or printed design. The lid can go on the top rack.
