What is a ceramic mug?

The short answer

Ceramic is fired clay with a glass glaze fused over it. That glaze is why a ceramic mug holds heat longer than glass, never carries a metallic taste, and can be washed thousands of times without wearing. It is the default for a reason. Love & Love YAH designs each one in-house, makes it to order, and donates 10% of every purchase to a Christian ministry, mission, charity or non-profit.

Why ceramic over other materials

  • Holds heat — the thick wall keeps coffee hot longer than glass or thin porcelain.
  • No taste transfer — the glaze is inert, so nothing carries over between drinks.
  • Microwave safe — no metal, no coating that degrades.
  • Takes a sublimated print — the design fuses into the glaze itself.
  • Cheap to replace — the practical everyday mug.

Glaze, sizes, and print

The glaze finish changes how a design reads. Gloss makes color saturated and bright. Matte softens it and hides the fingerprints that show on a dark gloss mug.

  • Sizes — 11oz and 15oz in the standard C-handle body.
  • Gloss or matte glaze — gloss for color, matte for a softer finish.
  • White or black body — black interiors available on select designs.
  • Sublimated print — fused into the glaze, dishwasher-proof.
  • Wraparound or single-side print — depending on the design.

Care and gifting

Top-rack dishwasher and microwave safe. Avoid thermal shock, meaning do not pour boiling water into a mug straight out of the freezer. Ceramic mugs are the most-ordered gift item in this shop. 10% of every purchase is donated to a Christian ministry, mission, charity or non-profit. You are helping the Kingdom of Heaven with every purchase.

Ceramic mug questions, answered

Is ceramic better than stoneware?

Different, not better. Ceramic is lighter with a glossier glaze. Stoneware is denser, heavier, and holds heat longer.

Will the print wear off in the dishwasher?

No. The design is sublimated into the glaze rather than printed on the surface, so there is no layer to wear through.

Gloss or matte finish?

Gloss gives stronger color and wipes cleaner. Matte looks softer but shows coffee marks on light bodies more readily.

Are these microwave safe?

Yes. No metallic ink or trim is used on any ceramic mug in this collection.

Why did my mug crack?

Almost always thermal shock: a large sudden temperature change, like boiling water into a cold mug or a hot mug into cold water.

Can these be ordered in bulk?

Yes. Any design can be ordered in quantity in either size.
