What is a cross t-shirt?

The cross is the oldest and most recognized Christian symbol, and it does something no worded shirt can: it communicates without language. A cross tee reads the same to a stranger in any country, which is why it is the most ordered design category in this shop.

Cross forms in this collection

  • Latin cross — the plain upright form, the most recognized.
  • Celtic cross — a circle joining the arms, drawn from Irish stonework.
  • Jerusalem cross — four small crosses in the quadrants of a large one.
  • Three crosses — the hill at Calvary, usually in silhouette.
  • Nail and rugged cross — textured, rough-hewn treatments.

Design treatments

The same cross reads completely differently depending on how it is drawn. A thin line cross is quiet enough for an office. A distressed heavyweight cross across the chest is a statement.

  • Small chest cross — left chest placement, the most understated option.
  • Full front cross — centered, six to twelve inches tall.
  • Back print crosses — large scale across the shoulders.
  • Line, solid, or distressed — three distinct visual weights.
  • Cross with a verse — paired with Galatians 2:20 or 1 Corinthians 1:18.

Cross t-shirt questions, answered

What is the difference between a Latin and a Celtic cross?

A Latin cross is the plain upright form. A Celtic cross adds a ring joining the arms, a design drawn from early Irish and Scottish stone crosses.

What does the Jerusalem cross mean?

A large cross with four smaller crosses in its quadrants, traditionally read as the gospel going out from Jerusalem to the four corners of the earth.

Which cross design is most subtle?

A small left-chest line cross. It reads as a detail rather than a graphic, which suits offices and schools with dress codes.

What do the three crosses represent?

Calvary, where Christ was crucified between two others. It is usually drawn in silhouette against a hill.

What sizes and fits do you carry?

XS to 3XL in a unisex cut, in three weights. The 5.3oz classic runs true; the 7.0oz heavyweight runs wider through the chest.

How should I wash a printed cross tee?

Inside out, cold, tumble low or hang dry. No bleach, and never iron directly over the print.
